We The People… Aren’t Too Bright
Here’s the kicker regarding guns. Single handedly, the most important argument AGAINST arming citizens. The number one reason why I KNOW we should not, in any way, shape, or form, be carrying guns. The ONLY reason, which by definition, proves that if we were allowed to carry guns in public, absolute CHAOS would ensue…
There is only one way to justify an attack. It is not bloodshed, it is not bruises, it is not 1 person explaining their side of the story. It is BOTH people involved in the “attack” appearing before a jury of their peers, and executing the American Judicial System. We do not, and never have, lived in a society where we simply “believe” whatever someone says. We need answers, we need reasons, we need motive, we need evidence, etc.
If we lived in a society in which citizens carried weapons to “defend” themselves from “attackers,” - we just destroyed the country we live in and completely re-defined the terms “attack, attacker, predator, and prey.” We would be “allowed” to carry out retribution for “attacks” by “shooting to kill” other members of society, regardless of their motive and predetermined act, and we would all get away with it, because there is only our story to tell, since the “attacker” is dead.
What would prevent people from killing anyone they wished, and simply calling it “self defense?”
Nothing. That is the answer.
Over time, and with our new “everyone’s a killer, but I’m safe because I have a gun” attitude, a homeless 40 year old with tourette’s, jumping from behind a garbage can, asking you for change, becomes an “attacker.”
This, my friend, is the single, most important reason as to why we need to keep guns OUT of the public. Imagine this scenario: Everyone has a gun, legally (for protection). Now, the element of surprise is completely eliminated. You can kill a person from a quarter mile away and no one has any idea who, what, where or why. And guess what? The person being “attacked,” had no idea, and his legal weapon he was legally carrying to legally protect himself, was worthless. This is not a world I want to live in, and fortunately, thanks to the Government we have, this is not a world I will live in.
Modern Capitalism is a group of lower class citizens and a group of wealthy citizens, and the Government says “Let’s help the rich because they help us.”
Modern Socialism, which should penetrate our economic system much more than it does, is the Government saying “The rich are doing just fine on their own, let’s see what we can do to help the poor to level the playing field.”

Time and Energy is never wasted, it’s only transferred. The 30 seconds and 28 steps you spent pushing your cart back to the cart corral in the Target parking lot instead of just tossing it near your car was used on you instead of one of the employees 20 minutes later. You just sacrificed your own time and energy and allowed that Target employee to spend their own 30 seconds and their own 28 steps doing something else making their life more productive. There are activities that don’t need to be done to yield a certain result, but Time and Energy is never wasted.

Slime moulds use a form of spatial “memory” to navigate, despite not having a brain, a study has found. Scientists in Australia studied the organisms in an experiment normally used to test robots. They found that the slime mould could navigate around a U-shaped maze to a food source, using their slimy deposits. Researchers compare its path-finding method to Hansel and Gretel’s breadcrumb trail. (via BBC Nature - Brainless slime mould has an external memory)
